The Historic Midwest Theater is hosting our forth film festival. This will be a unique and exciting event for our community. The festival will be held on Feb 19-22 2009. Once again we will "Spotlight" some Nebraska artists and film makers, including presentations from a few people associated with the film industry, and we will broaden our scope to include other projects from rural areas around the United States. The festival will be an opportunity to celebrate Nebraska in film as well as learn from Hollywood insiders and industry professionals. Socializing and food will round out our weekend. We will have receptions in the theater on Friday and Saturday evening with our guests.

The Purpose/Goals of the Midwest Theater Film Festival:

• Develop and Enhance the Historic Preservation of the Midwest Theater and promote the theater
• Encourage and showcase independent and experimental film art
  and to promote film as art, and to offer educational outreach
• Promote film as an art form and to provide the community
  with an outlet to seek alternative forms of film
• Encourage the creation and production of films and videos
• Promote interest in films produced in Nebraska or connected to Nebraska
• Provide a venue which will attract consumers into Western Nebraska
• Stimulate an appetite in the regional community for independent films
